Dallas Home Tour: A Modern, Collected Family Home with Personality

Welcome back to The Studio Edit! Today, I’m excited to share a recent Dallas interior design project that I had the joy of working on for a young, busy family. And here’s the twist—I designed this home remotely (yes, my laptop and I became best friends with FaceTime for weeks). With plenty of collaboration, we created interiors that feel modern, dimensional, and full of character.

The Formal Living Room

First impressions matter, but nobody wants a stiff, off-limits living room. We combined modern furniture with warm textures and layers of color to keep it approachable. Think clean lines paired with cozy fabrics and just enough vibrancy to make the space feel alive. It’s both elegant and livable—a room you can host in with confidence or enjoy with your feet up at the end of the day.

The Dining Room

This isn’t your typical forgotten dining space. A thoughtful mix of wood, stone, and upholstered seating adds richness, while bold accents give it personality. Can we have a moment for this chandelier? Visual Comfort did not disappoint on this statement fixture. It’s a dining room designed for laughter, good food, and maybe even a little spilled wine (no judgment here).

The Family Room

The heart of the home, this is where movie nights, playtime, and downtime all collide. To make it both practical and polished, we layered bold textures, inviting patterns, and a collected mix of furnishings. The result is a family room that feels welcoming, personal, and sophisticated—exactly what a busy family needs to unwind and connect.

The Powder Bath

And last but definitely not least, the moodiest little powder bathroom. A small space with big impact! We went dramatic here by painting the entire room in Graphite by Benjamin Moore. The all-black walls create a chic jewel box effect, transforming the powder bath into an unforgettable little hideaway. (It’s the kind of space where you definitely check yourself out in the mirror more than once.)

The Big Picture

What makes this Dallas home special is the mix of materials, colors, and textures that layer together for a collected, dimensional look. Nothing is overly coordinated, yet every space feels intentional and reflective of the family who lives here.

Designing remotely had its challenges (measuring via video calls is not for the faint of heart), but this project proves that creativity and collaboration can thrive across state lines. With trust and teamwork, we achieved a home that feels stylish, lived-in, and undeniably personal.

This Dallas project is such a great reminder of why I love being an interior designer: creating spaces that reflect real families, real lifestyles, and yes—even the messy, wonderful moments in between.
